Eat Healthier With Homemade Paleo Protein Bars

By Tami Fogarty

The paleo way of living is growing in popularity, and so is the demand for paleo-friendly protein bars. The problem is that they can get costly, and they may not have the flavor selections you want.

If you know what I'm talking about, and you enjoy cooking - why not bake your very own homemade protein bars? They could take time to bake, and they don't come in hassle-free single-serving packages, but with a little practice and some air tight plastic bags, you can produce your own nutritious protein bars that you can take along with you in the car, to the health club or while taking a trip.

If you've ever reviewed the labels for paleo bars, you most likely have discovered a couple of similarities. There are generally less than ten ingredients, and many consist of nuts, coconut, protein powder and in some cases dried fruit.

These are all items that you can purchase at your neighborhood supermarket, combine in a food processor, spread out in a baking tray and cook for approximately 10-20 minutes. When finished, you merely take the baking dish out to cool, slice your creation into single-size servings and store in air-tight containers that are ready to enjoy when you are.

The first couple of recipes that you make may be trial and error as far as discovering the taste and consistency you prefer. There are numerous complimentary recipe samples on the internet that you can find by conducting a fast search in a search engine.

When you discover a dish that you like, you can get nuts, seeds and protein powder in bulk to save money. Not only will you be eating healthy - you will be spending less cash too!

Nuts, of course, have protein, however, some people include egg or protein powder to increase the amount.

Nuts, unsweetened coconut and dried berries will not stick by themselves. You want to add ingredients such as almond butter, coconut oil with flax seed meal or honey to keep all of the components together.

Flavorings such as almond extract or cinnamon can spice up your treats, together with a touch of salt. Get innovative with the paleo products you include in your very own recipes, as this can enhance the taste, increase the selection and make it easier to enjoy the paleolithic way of life.
